Abstract (may include machine translation)
King Sigismund was one of the greatest travellers of the Middle Ages. As ruler of Hungary and the Bohemia, and as Holy Roman Emperor, he not only visited much of his country and empire, but also travelled to the Kingdom of France, England, Bosnia and the Low Countries. During his reign, which lasted fifty years, he travelled through the country on and off, but at other times he did not stay in the Kingdom of Hungary for many years, because as emperor he was concerned with the affairs of the empire or of Europe as a whole. Sometimes in Italy, sometimes on German soil, sometimes at the Council of Constance, sometimes on the road. During one of his journeys from Italy to the Synod, he remembered a monastery in Hungary near the Brenner Pass in Switzerland, the identification of which occupied archaeologists and historians for a long time.
