Abstract (may include machine translation)

The chapter reviews the existing literature on the interplay between innovation and internationalization of SMEs categorising existing studies on this theme across a range of theoretical perspectives including the Resource Based View (RBV), Institutional theory, Network theory and Entrepreneurial theory, among others. This review discusses the evolution of the literatures both over time and across disciplines offering the reader a rich tour d'horizon of this important field of international business research. In particular, the chapter is aimed at helping the IB research community to further enrich research areas and questions that are theoretically grounded and importantly advance the current state of knowledge in this field.
