Abstract (may include machine translation)
First surveys the nature and historical causes of the present dilemmas of the Hungarian economy, then considers abortive attempts at economic reform between 1985 and 1987. The author then analyses in some detail the post-1988 reform policies which effectively rejected earlier policies, and assesses their chance of success. -P.Hardiman
