The place of East Central Europe on the map of romanesque architecture

    Abstract (may include machine translation)

Collecting information about Romanesque architecture in East Central Europe on the internet is surprisingly difficult. There are wonderful maps available for students at different schools, 1 university students2 and the wider public3 indicating the most important sites of Romanesque architecture in Europe (Figure 12.1). However, these maps contain data exclusively from western countries and the territory of East Central Europe is a large empty field as if nothing had happened there during the given period. One may complain that alas! the poor relatives are again unduly forgotten and nobody wants to know them in the West. One may also argue that this is because language barriers hinder the flow of information.
