Az uniós reformok lassúsága és a valutaunióval megemelkedett belépési küszöb miatt az EU-ba egyre nehezebb bekerülni. A cikk azt a kérdést vizsgálja, hogy miként áll a bővítési verseny, hol áll Magyarország az elsőkörös országok közt, és miként alakulnak az EU-taggá válás feltételei. A szerző ajánlásokat fogalmaz meg az eredményes integrációs politika számára. Az írás második része az élenjáró országok integrációs érettségét vizsgálja, valamint azt a kérdést, hogy a berlini döntésekkel milyen bővülési feltételek jöttek létre. A folyamatot tovább lassítja, hogy a tagjelölt országokban egyre többféle részérdek egyre merevebb képviselete emelkedik a kormánypolitika rangjára.
The article addresses the state and perspectives of competing national strategies in the first round of EU-accession. It is devoted to describing Hungary's position and to spelling out conditions for enlargement. The another formulates some recommendations for Hungary's efficient integration strategy. Part two addresses the EU maturity of first round accession candidates in on comparative perspective. It analyses what conditions did the Berlin-Council set for enlargement. It addresses Hungary's room for manoeuvres in this light. Due to the slow pace of EU reforms and the Union Additional entry barriers posed by the conditions of currency union it is becoming increasingly difficult to join the Union. The process is further lamed by the fact that a growing number of organised rested interest is being represented with assertiveness at the level of governmental policies of the acceding countries.
