Re-membering the figure: The ekphrasis of J. J. Winckelmann

Winckelmann: I speak at the threshold of this drama because I was the one that opened a new organ, as Hegel put it. And I speak, as always, to make you see. In order to see in this sense you have to read those authors who will lead the mind’s eye around the subject.
