Abstract (may include machine translation)

The literature on the impact of European integration (see Mudde, 2004; Henderson, 2005; Lewis, 2005) highlights the fragility of the post- communist party systems, suggesting the possibility for a more robust EU influence in the region than in Western Europe. The present chapter investigates one of the more stable, crystallized party systems of Eastern Europe, searching for processes triggered by European integration in a case that should be a fairly difficult one for the robust impact hypothesis.
