Although Africa has contributed the least to historical greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), it is one of the most vulnerable regions in the world and climate change has profound and far-reaching impacts on the continent. Responses to climate change include mitigation, which involves actions and efforts taken to reduce or prevent the human-induced greenhouse gas emissions and other activities that contribute to global warming and climate change and adaptation, which involves the process of adjusting to the existing or anticipated impacts of climate change to address climate risks by reducing vulnerability and exposure of natural and human systems. This policy brief focuses on the adaptation.
