Az alább ismertetett kutatás társadalmi, pontosabban háztartások közötti tá- mogató kapcsolatokat vizsgálja szegény roma és nem roma háztartások körében. A kapcso- latok egyetlen vetületére koncentrálok: milyen anyagi és nem anyagi háztartásközi támogatási kapcsolatok segítik a szegények életét. A rendelkezésre álló adatoknak köszön- hetõen összehasonlíthatóak az azonos körülmények között élõ roma és nem roma szegé- nyek, valamint a teljes lakosság támogató kapcsolatainak jellemzõi. A kutatás legfontosabb eredménye az, hogy a roma szegények számottevõen kapcsolatszegényebbek, mint nem roma társaik, valamint az, hogy a roma háztartások közötti támogató kapcsolatok léte erõsen függ a regionális elhelyezkedéstõl és az adott településen élõ romák vélhetõ identitásától, történeti hátterétõl. A tanulmány végén megfogalmazok további kutatásra érdemes hipotézi- seket, amelyek vizsgálata közelebb vihet a romának tartott népesség sokszínûségének, kü- lönbözõ alkalmazkodási stratégiáinak megismeréséhez.
The research described below examines social, and more specifically household-to-household, relationships among poor Roma and non-Roma households. I focus on a single dimension of these linkages: what material and non-material inter-household support relationships help poor people to live. The data available allow a comparison of the characteristics of supportive relationships between Roma and non-Roma poor living in the same circumstances and the population as a whole. The most important findings of the research are that the Roma poor are significantly less well-connected than their non-Roma counterparts and that the existence of supportive relationships between Roma households is strongly dependent on regional location and the perceived identity and historical background of the Roma living in a given settlement. At the end of the paper, I will formulate hypotheses worthy of further research, the examination of which may bring us closer to understanding the diversity of the Roma population and its different adaptation strategies.
