Abstract (may include machine translation)
The article is an attempt to present an overview of the integrations! policies of Eastern European countries in a comparative perspective. Recently approved programmatic documents of the CMEA reflect a consensus only at a very general level of deliberations, thus actions and possibilities to restructure the multilateral integrational mechanism are rather modest. The diversity of national stances — reflecting the domestic state of affairs — is rather on the increase. This is the background of the Hungarian decision to initiate abolishment of state-trading in Hungarian-Soviet relations and introduce settlements in convertible currency. Pros and cons of this option are surveyed in some detail.
