Abstract (may include machine translation)

Starting with a quick glimpse of the international and national activism scene, our article
examines the Hungarian civil society, in particular, regarding its attitude towards decisionmakers and power. Building upon this, we outline the local context of community organizing. Following this, we give a detailed picture of the international roots, the values and the methodology of community organizing, and introduce the Central and Eastern European and national practice of the past few years. On the whole, we try to locate the place of community organizing for professionals in Hungary and outline a program of this approach.
