Historiographie und Anthropologie: Zur Kritik hegemonialer Wissensproduktion bei Talal Asad, Bernard S. Cohn und der Subaltern Studies Group

Die Schlüsselwerke und Autoren, die in diesem Kapitel über den Beitrag der Anthropologie zur postkolonialen Theorie behandelt werden, befassen sich entweder mit Fragen über die koloniale Bedingtheit der Anthropologie (Asad), oder sie wenden eine anthropologische Perspektive auf historische Untersuchungsgegenstände an (Cohn, Subaltern Studies). Ihnen gemeinsam ist die kritische Auseinandersetzung mit der – bis dahin nicht oder unzulänglich behandelten – Rolle des Kolonialismus in der sozialanthropologischen Wissensproduktion.

The key works and authors discussed in this chapter on the contribution of anthropology to postcolonial theory either deal with questions about the colonial conditionality of anthropology (Asad), or they apply an anthropological perspective to historical objects of investigation (Cohn, Subaltern Studies). What they have in common is a critical examination of the role of colonialism in the production of social anthropological knowledge - a role that had previously not been addressed or had been inadequately addressed.
