A cikk első része társadalmi áttekintést ad arról, hogy miként jött létre az infláció radikális leszorításának lehetősége épp az elnökválasztás évében, értelmezi a Lebegy-epizódot is. A második rész áttekinti a gazdaságpolitika három fő eleme közti konzisztencia létrejöttét. Míg a gazdasági növekedésnek még nem jött el az ideje, az alacsony, 10 százalék körüli infláció és az ezt megalapozó közel fix árfolyam fenntarthatósága lehetséges. A kétoldalú forgalomban az államközi szint szerepe tovább mérséklődik, a magyar kereskedelmi hiányt a fizetési mérleg más tételeinek többlete ellensúlyozhatja.

The first part of the article dealt with the costs of debt service. The present part aims to clarify the concept of devaluation loss and its „realisation". It is pointed out that the current loss at the central bank - related to the sterilisation of capital inflows - has nothing to do with the „realisation" of devaluation losses. It is possible to interpret the realisation of devaluation loss in case of a decline in gross foreign debt provided that the source of debt reduction is not privatisation revenue in foreign exchange. The devaluation loss, however, is a nominal concept; it does not contain information on the real effects of past devaluations.
