Rövid betegség után, 2022. szeptember 6-án elhunyt Erdős Tibor. 1969 ben kapta egyetemi tanári kinevezését, 1972-ben lett az MTA doktora, 1987-től az Akadémia levelező, 1993-tól rendes tagja. Kutató volt és tanár, közéleti ember és kritikus szellem. Közgazdászok nemzedékei tőle tanulták meg a makroökonómia mibenlétét. Munkásságának középpontjában a klasszikus közgazdaságtan kérdésköre állt, vagyis a gazdasági növekedés, az infláció és az adópolitika, az állami beavatkozás lehetőségei és korlátai.
