Presents a revised and enlarged English edition of Kelet-Europa a vilaggazdasagban - alkalmazkodas es gazdasagi mechanizmus (Budapest, 1984) which examines the power structures, economic reforms, and developments within Eastern Europe, exploring the history of intra-regional cooperation and conflicts and international trade. Particular attention is given to Soviet-East European relations, including an assessment of recent policies, and the implications for Eastern Europe of Gorbachev's reforms. The key issues of the economic system which are addressed include: price formation in intra-CMEA trade; investment; trade with the West; the future role of the CMEA; and economic adjustment.
