Abstract (may include machine translation)
In Spring 2022, we organised a programme series comprising ten events to research archaeological sites under special protection in the Pilis Mountains and on the Szentendre Island. Organisers and participants had different ties to community archaeology, yet the collaboration awarded them all with new and important results. Weekend fieldwork and presentations granted volunteers of the Community Archaeology Association new opportunities to acquaint themselves with various archaeological epochs and discover new finds together with renowned researchers of the related fields. The programme enabled archaeologists of the Ferenczy Museum Centre to go on with their task of regularly monitoring archaeological sites in the area, especially those under special protection. Furthermore, participants of the OpenHeritage project, conducted within the framework of the Cultural Heritage Studies programme by the Central European University, were preparing a new exhibition focusing on archaeological sites in the vicinity of Pomáz (Pest county) as part of the present programme series. We strove to balance educative part, professional work, and active recreation in daily programmes. The following article summarises the related experiences and conclusions of the professional side; in our hopes, the results will me made available for the public in the exhibition mentioned above and in related publications.
