A Rumbach Sebestyén utcai ‘konszervatívebb’ neológ zsinagóga

Az elmúlt évtizedekben a budapesti köztudatban elterjedt tévhit szerint a Rumbach Sebestyén utcai zsinagóga a status quo ante irányzathoz tartozott, és eszerint a három belső-erzsébetvárosi nagy zsinagóga által alkotott háromszög csúcsai egyben a 19–20. század fordulóján kialakult három magyar zsidó irányzatot képviselnék. Ez a status quo mítosz azonban nem tükrözi a történelmi tényeket.

According to a misconception that has become widespread in Budapest over the past few decades, the synagogue on Rumbach Sebestyén Street belonged to the status quo ante movement, and that the vertices of the triangle formed by the three major synagogues in Inner Erzsébetváros represent the three Hungarian Jewish movements that emerged at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. However, this “status quo” myth does not reflect historical facts.
