’Most minden másképp van, mint eddig volt’-címmel adta közre, Carmen Reinhart és Kenneth Rogoff/2009/ a pénzügyi megrázkódtatások két évszázadát egységes és bő statisztikai adatsorokkal bemutató és elemző kötetét. A szerzők már azzal is új utat jelöltek ki az általuk is képviselt közgazdasági főáram elemzési kerete számára, hogy szakítottak az uralkodóvá vált spekulatív megközelítésekkel. Miközben a szakirodalomban mindennapossá vált- immár az un area studies keretében is- az, hogy valóságos adatok helyett szimulált vagy más módon számított, azaz spekulatív modellszámításokkal közelítik azt, ami leginkább tapasztalati úton feltárható, a két szerző konzervatív fordulatot hajtott végre. Nevezetesen történeti statisztikai alapon, a valós folyamatok megfigyelésével, az adatok standardizálásával, a megfigyelt jelenségek induktív általánosításával, a történeti és leíró módszerhez visszatérve fejtik ki nézeteiket.

'Everything is different now than it was before', published by Carmen Reinhart and Kenneth Rogoff/2009/, presents and analyses two centuries of financial shocks in a coherent and rich statistical data set. By breaking with the speculative approaches that have become dominant, the authors have already marked a new path for the mainstream analytical framework of economics that they themselves represent. While it has become commonplace in the literature - now also in the context of un area studies - to use simulated or otherwise calculated, i.e. speculative model calculations to approximate what is most empirically detectable, instead of real data, the two authors have taken a conservative turn. Namely, they develop their views on a historical statistical basis, by observing real processes, standardizing the data, inductively generalizing the observed phenomena, and returning to the historical and descriptive method.
