Ez az írás a 2019. évi hármas közgazdasági Nobel-díj alkalmából készült. Első részében bemutatja a kitüntetés történetét és változó jelentőségét. A másodikban röviden ismerteti a három legutóbb díjazott tudós munkásságát. Ebben a Nobel Emlékbizottság által adott bővebb indoklást egészítjük ki más források alapján. Végül megvizsgálja azt, hogy mit üzen e döntés a tudományszak jövőbeni fejlődése számára.
This essay provides a short assessment and appreciation of the three Nobels in Economics awarded in 2019. Part one tells the story of the Nobel Prize in Economics and its changing role in setting the priorities of the discipline. Section two informs about major academic accomplishments of those decorated with the Prize. In so doing we complement the broad assessment provided by the Riksbank Committee. Finally we speculate about the message of the Prize for the future conduct of economics as an academic discipline.
