Undertaken under the aegis of Policy Association for an Open Society (PASOS) and funded by the International Visegrad Fund and the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission, the project’s aim was to foster a greater understanding of the importance of the democratic renewal in Central Europe, and of democratic values in strengthening mutual understanding within the EU and in the context of EU members' relations with other countries on the transition to democratic rule. The project was carried out in 2009- 2010, and entailed desk research, focus group discussions in each of the four countries, and a public opinion survey. The project finished with a conference presenting series of country reports by the participating research centers as well as comparative study discussing the findings with respect to the V4 countries.
