Mobilising communities for healthier Adriatic waters
The health of our oceans is a shared responsibility that transcends borders and disciplines. Restoring Europe’s oceans demands collaboration across all of society. The EU-funded RISTANC aims to use a bottom-up methodology to drive marine restoration, focusing on the Slovenian seas of the Northern Adriatic. Specifically, it integrates expertise from marine biology and the humanities to create scalable demo solutions and support grassroots projects delivering targeted policy briefs. This will open the door to new transdisciplinary microcredentials that can enhance the capacity of the scientific community and knowledge institutions. Through high-impact public engagement and art-science activities, the project improves ocean literacy and ensures that regional innovation ecosystems are better equipped to solve complex environmental issues across the EU
