    Research interests

    Vera Messing is a Senior Visiting Researcher at the Democracy Institute and a Research Professor at the Center for Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Corvinus University. Her academic interest lies in the comparative understanding of different forms and intersections of social inequalities, ethnicity, and race, with a focus on education, labor markets and other areas shaped by institutional and structural discrimination. She is particularly interested in policy and civil responses to ethnic and racial diversity, as well as exploring key drivers of public attitudes toward racialized minorities and immigrants. In addition, she has a strong interest in social science methodology and the measurement of social phenomena. Since joining CEU in 2008, she has coordinated and contributed to numerous European comparative research projects. Most recently, she has been a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Denver. Dr. Messing has published widely in academic journals and edited volumes.
