Research interests

Qiong (Miranda) Wu is a sociologist joined CEU in September 2019 as an Assistant Professor, and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2025. She completed her B.A. in History at Shanghai University, and then M.A. in Sociology at Western Michigan University. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology (Ph.D. supervisor: Michael Wallace) and Quantitative Research Certificate at the University of Connecticut. Her work lies at the intersection of sociology of stratification, migration studies, quality of life, and sociology of work. She explores a diverse array of topics under the overarching theme of inequality, which encompasses social stratification and mobility, immigration and globalization, labor markets, as well as health and well-being. Her methodological expertise is primarily on quantitative research methods using statistical software such as Stata, SPSS, and R. Additionally, she possesses strong skills in qualitative research methods, including in-depth interviews, thematic analysis, and content analysis, employing NVivo for data management.
