Research interests

Péter Tamás Bara is a historian of Byzantium specialising in the political, intellectual, and ecclesiastical history of the eleventh and twelfth centuries. He received his PhD in Medieval Studies from the University of Szeged in 2020 and has held research positions at the HUN-REN Research Centre for the Humanities. His work focuses on Greek–Latin translation, knowledge transfer, and intellectual networks across the medieval Mediterranean. He is currently preparing a monograph on Leo of Chalcedon with Edinburgh University Press and co-edited a volume on Latin translations of Greek texts
