Research interests

Florian joined CEU’s Department of Public Policy as Assistant Professor at the beginning of September 2020 and was promted to Associate Professor in June 2022. Before coming to CEU he was Assistant Professor for Political Economy at the University of Groningen, Campus Fryslan. Florian holds a PhD from ETH Zurich, where he worked on the global political economy of climate change to earn his dissertation, which he defended in 2013. Since finishing his dissertation, he held academic positions at the University of Bamberg (Post-doc), the University of Kent (Lecturer), and the University of Basel (Senior Researcher). His recent academic work focuses on environmental issues on the one hand, particularly on adaptation and adaptation aid, and on stakeholder strategies to influence policy processes on the other.
