Research interests

Asya Passinsky is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Central European University in Vienna.

Her main areas of research are metaphysics, social philosophy, and feminist philosophy. She has published papers in social ontology, feminist metaphysics, and the philosophy of money and finance. She is currently writing a book on the metaphysics of social objects, as well as a series of papers on social construction and feminist metaphysics.  

Before coming to CEU, Passinsky was a core faculty member in the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to that, she taught at Dartmouth College and New York University. She obtained her PhD in Philosophy at New York University, and she completed her BPhil in Philosophy at the University of Oxford on a Rhodes scholarship. She did her BA degree at the University of California, Berkeley. 

Passinsky is the co-founder and co-organizer of the annual Social Metaphysics Workshop, and the founder and co-director of the ISOS Mentorship Scheme.
