Abdullah Aljabassini

Dr. Al-Jabassini is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellow at Central European University (CEU) in Vienna. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Kent, Canterbury.  He is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies of the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, a Non-Resident Fellow at the Arab Reform Initiative in Paris, and an Associate Fellow at the Middle East Institute in Washington D.C.

Previously, Al-Jabassini was a CIVICA Postdoctoral Research Fellow at CEU, a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow at the European University Institute, and an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna.

Al-Jabassini is a political scientist specialising in political violence and civil war, wartime social order, foreign intervention in civil conflicts, authoritarian conflict management, illiberal peace-building, and security sector reform.

His research relies heavily on fieldwork and mixed-methods approaches, drawing on years of first-hand experience conducting interviews and data collection in war zones, conflict-affected regions, and volatile contexts.
