Classroom activities will focus on encouraging students to share personal values and experience in order to build their confidence in using English to formulate and express their thoughts about the world they inhabit as individuals and as members of their communities. The underlying goal is to provide a guided framework for addressing topics students may encounter in the context of language exams and areas of specialization, scrutinizing broader issues characteristic of contemporary society. Participants will be expected to do reading/listening exercises as well as give brief oral presentations as a follow-up to each weekly session and as a catalyst for further discussion.
