Aim & Background

Course Description:This course explores the complex interplay between natural resource management, pollution control, and environmental sustainability. Students will examine the management of both renewable and non-renewable resources, the consequences of their exploitation, and the strategies for mitigating pollution and conserving resources. The course covers critical areas such as mining renewable resources, forests as renewable resources, soil as a non-renewable resource, waste management, disaster risk reduction, and integrated watershed management.Aims of the Course: This course seeks to achieve the following aims.To equip students with the knowledge and skills to manage renewable and non-renewable resources sustainably.To analyze the environmental and socio-economic impacts of resource extraction and pollution and develop strategies to minimize these effects.To prepare students to design and implement disaster risk reduction strategies that incorporate resource management principles.To provide an understanding of the role of forests, soils, and watersheds in the global environmental and resource management frameworks.Module: Introductory Environmental Topics
