This course is an introduction to understanding andto using elementary statistical methods. It is, however, different from regularsuch intro courses because it teaches statistics in a critical and reflexiveway, integrating key insights from feminist research methods in the process. Wewill design a survey, collect and analyze our data, write up our research report-all the while reflecting on what we learn, what we miss and how we could/should do it differently. Moreimportantly, you will learn not only how to use statistics to understand socialphenomena, but also how we shape our collective understanding of society bymaking specific decisions and assumptions in the process of research andanalysis. This course will combine some theoreticalknowledge with lots of practical tools for analyzing and presenting data. We will work both in groups and individuallysupporting each other along the way. No math required, mathphobes arewelcome. We will us AI tools in thiscourse.
