That moment marked a monumental shift for the world as the number one priority for policy makers changed from security to pursuing prosperity. Among significant learning outcomes, students will see that there are times when macro conditions and macroeconomic policy drive decisive change in markets and economies, and they will be well prepared to see the markers of impending change approaching that often upend the existing consensus and surprise so many. Financial markets are among the most powerful forces in the world, and given their repetitive nature, those armed with an understanding of the past are well equipped to face the future in both the policy making and financial market arenas. In each episode, the instructor had a front row seat and was often an active participant as events unfolded. Without betraying confidences, there are numerous stories and personal insights on the policy makers and financial market participants involved that will be shared. Observations on successful approaches by both groups in each case study will be made, with an eye towards helping students positively confront future professional challenges.
