It represents a unique opportunity for LLM students to gain practical, real-life experience on how to work with businesses and entrepreneurs and how to become a real contributor to a business's success. At the Clinic, LLM students become legal advisors to real start-ups, helping the teams to understand and overcome the legal problems they face in building and launching their businesses.The course offers a blend of theory and practice. The taught sessions are devoted to professional legal writing, the basics of law and management, the foundations of entrepreneurship and developing entrepreneurial mindset, as well as to the development of soft skills such as interacting with and interviewing clients and translating business questions into legal problems. In the clinical part of the course, students (individually or in groups) are paired with start-up teams and meet with them under the supervision of experienced attorneys from a leading international law firm. After an initial memo-writing training, each group then prepares a final memo based on the client meetings and their own legal research and analysis that addresses their client's legal issues and provides legal strategies that effectively contribute to their client's success. During the final session of the course, teams present their experience and findings in front of their instructors and the GBLR faculty.
