https://at-ceu.studyguide.timeedit.net/modules/POLS5815?type=COREStatistical analysis is a foundational skill in political science and the ability to interpret and analyze data is highly valued in a world of abundant data. This course is designed to help you develop these skills from the ground up. Throughout the semester, you'll learn the basics of statistical inference and practice them in a hands-on fashion. The weekly schedule is divided into two parts: The first part will introduce and explain key statistical concepts in a way that keeps mathematical demands to a minimum. While some basic math will be necessary, you won't need anything beyond what is covered in the Math Refresher course during the Zero week. We will also work on reading and critically assessing political science research that uses statistics. The second part is dedicated to practical skills. Here, you'll get hands-on experience using R, an open-source program for statistical analysis. While R can seem intimidating at first, powering through the steep learning curve at the very beginning will pay off after a few sessions. Throughout the course, you will see how R will become easier. Investing the effort will give you a valuable tool for both your studies and your future career.
