We shall read, chapter by chapter, Joseph Carens' book The Ethics of Immigration. Each chapter raises different, complementary normative questions concerning national borders (e.g. are they justified? if so, how?), conditions for crossing them (e.g. is it permissible to exclude some people?), the morally right treatment of immigrants, residents and refugees, and issues concerning citizenship.
