Aim & Background

This course introduces key interdisciplinaryapproaches to studying how war and armed conflict are gendered. Through mixingfeminist theoretical approaches with concrete cases of war and armed conflict,we closely examine the ways in which gender and sexuality function as central aspectsin the experience of war. In particular, we pay special attention tounderstanding notions of masculinity, sexual violence, rape, justice, andmemory as they are researched, constructed, and contested by feminist analysisin the fields of anthropology and international relations.
