The course is built around one of the core activities in education: teaching or facilitating a session/lesson. Accordingly, participants learn about and practice several skills, including reflecting on who they are as teachers, understanding who their students are and how to foster an inclusive environment where all can learn, articulating goals and learning outcomes, structuring a session, designing appropriate teaching materials, exploring different approaches and techniques of teaching and learning (such as lecturing and facilitating discussions), actually teaching their session, and reflecting and learning from their experience and feedback.Furthermore, Foundations is the gateway course for the comprehensive Certificate of Teaching in Higher Education, offered by the Yehuda Elkana Center for Teaching, Learning, and Higher Education Research
