Aim & Background

This introductory course familiarizes students with the institutional framework, decision-making processes, and evolving dynamics of European integration and EU governance. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach-drawing on political science, public policy, and law-it critically examines the roles and interactions of key EU institutions and bodies, including the European Commission, European Parliament, European Council, Council of the EU, Court of Justice, and EU agencies. Students engage with academic and policy materials to understand different decision-making processes (treaty-making, legislative, regulatory, and judicial) within Europe's multi-level governance system. The course also explores selected analytical and theoretical perspectives on European integration and reflects on current and future challenges.Designed for students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, it is particularly relevant for those interested in European studies, diplomacy, international organizations, or EU-related careers.
