It is meant to convey as snapshot of currentevents in the area of geopolitics and energy. Since Russia's full-scale invasion ofUkraine in 2022 and the Trump administration's new tariff regime geopoliticsplay a more prominent role in energy and technology. However, these global northevents highlight the on-going race for critical raw materials in the global south.This course will weave together the shift from fossil fuels to electrificationof economies powered by renewable energy and reliant on resources from theglobal south. Geopolitics are in sharper focus as critical raw materials (CRM) representa new era of competition over the core elements to a post-fossil fuel era. Policymaking and strategic decision making by companies will be addressed to providea holistic perspective on what drives change in the energy transition. The course will actively engage with recent events involving energy and geopolitics.
