    Aim & Background

It is an advanced course that focuses on using AI as a research support agent. It covers text analysis, and using AI for designing causal inference methods: selecting control variables, designing IV and diff-in-diffs models. It also shows ways to use for data science tasks. This advanced course builds on AI fundamentals to explore sophisticated applications in research design and causal inference. Students learn to use AI as a research companion for identifying causal strategies, designing instruments, and creating interactive applications for research dissemination. The course covers AI-assisted data collection, natural language querying of databases, and using AI for research design decisions including control variable selection, instrumental variable identification, and difference-in-differences design. Students create simulation applications and dashboards, developing skills for research presentation and public engagement. Advanced AI applications are transforming research methodology. This course prepares students to leverage AI for sophisticated analytical tasks while maintaining rigorous causal inference standards essential for policy-relevant research.
