It is impossible to understand the state of contemporary political philosophy without referring to Rawl's work. In this course, we will revise and discuss the main ideas of Rawls's 'Justice as Fairness' as well as some of its implications and assumptions. We will discuss the content of his two principles; the ideas of the original position, and the basic structure of society; and the constraint of public reason. In the second part of the course, we will revise some criticisms levied against Rawls's theory.
