Aim & Background

This course introduces / refreshes relevant knowledge of legal research methods in comparative constitutional law. As a mandatory course for those students who opted for the thesis writing track, it pursues two objectives: first, it aims to convey those skills relevant for writing a research paper in comparative constitutional law (i.a.: identifying a valid comparative research question / topic; types of case selection; basic principles of comparative method; types of comparative scholarship; etc.); second, it introduces broader aspects and issues of Comparative Constitutional Law Methodologies. The course is organized as an interactive seminar and in part requires students to present samples from their ongoing thesis projects. ?The goal of the course is to improve students' theoretical understanding of comparative constitutional research methods and its practical application in the course of writing their CCL - LL.M. thesis.
