Since the publication of the Agile Manifesto in 2001, the Agile movement has revolutionized software product development and following a consolidation period has been adopted by other more traditional industries. At present, Agile techniques are widely utilized in different industries, offering a viable alternative to traditional management methods. The initial intent of the Agile movement was to solve the challenges of a high-paced, quickly changing environment with several risks and unknown factors generated by a new volatile industry. This requires adaptive planning, early delivery, and continuous improvement, also encouraging rapid and flexible response to change. At the human level, with Agile new type of leadership, a new mindset has emerged. For a better understanding of the phenomenon, we will start with an introduction to the basic project management concepts, will present some elements of traditional project management, and then introduce Agile as an alternative to the previous. The second part of the course is introductory training in Scrum. As the Scrum Guide highlights: "Scrum is a lightweight framework that helps people, teams, and organizations generate value through adaptive solutions for complex problems." This framework is the most widespread Agile-related methodology, 80% of Agile projects use SCRUM in some way. (State of Agile, 2020)The ultimate goal of this training is to prepare students Professional Scrum Master I. certification provided by Scrum.org. To achieve this goal, we will solve and review mock certification exams. While Agile and related methodologies, including SCRUM, originated in Software Development, by now the usage and spread of these methodologies are way beyond the technological sector. Nevertheless, given that the trainers participating in the course are coming from the IT sector, the use cases / real-life examples provided during the course will reflect this fact.
