    Aim & Background

    The aim of this course is to help you strengthen your position as a writer within the academic community by raising awareness of, practicing, and reflecting upon the conventions of written texts. The course will also address other strategies needed for graduate-level work. During the course, you will become more familiar with the features of policy texts, as well as the discourse patterns and conventions typical for them, effectively taking into consideration the expectations of your readership. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to improve your own writing process through drafting, peer feedback and individual writing consultations. Ultimately, you will become a more informed writer, who is able to analyze others' writing, and more aware of the choices available when approaching any given writing task. During the course, you will: · become familiar with the main genres of and enhance the skills related to policy writing · have the opportunity to develop your writing process through phases of generating ideas drafting, peer evaluation, and individual writing consultations · learn to take into consideration the expectations of your readership with regard to discourse conventions in different communities · become a more confident and autonomous writer in English
