https://at-ceu.studyguide.timeedit.net/modules/GENS8000?type=COREThis course is a mandatory requirement in the PhD program in Comparative Gender Studies. Students past the Comp Exam who have completed the bulk of their research must participate in the seminar at least once, *most commonly in the third year of study. Space allowing, students may repeat the course while still enrolled in the program during periods of residence. (See the PhD Handbook for details on how the seminar fits into the program.) The seminar is structured primarily as a writing workshop focusing on a complete draft of one dissertation chapter with feedback and support from the other participants and the instructor. Supervisor(s) may also attend if desired. Additional sessions will cover other aspects of dissertation writing and strategies to ease students' way through the program, including a session on academic publishing. Grading is pass/fail with timely submission of an adequately substantial chapter draft, submission of written feedback for one peer, and active seminar participation as the minimal requirement for passing.
